Chanel Soho Collection

I've walked by the Chanel Soho boutique 2 days ago and it was abuzz with construction for it's grand re-opening. I'm excited to go visit the renovated store but for now, I'll just enjoy this collection released in honor of it's re-opening. This collection is available online and through the Chanel Soho Store starting on 9/10 (Fashion's Night Out). The Soho Collection actually became available on Chanel.com on last Friday and since I didn't know when I'll be able to make it to the Soho boutique; I ordered almost the whole collection except for a few lip colors.

Here is the highlighting/blush compact:

It has a shimmery brown(on the reddish side), white shimmer and light pink powders. Sorry I could not get a good swatch pic.

There are 2 polishes released with this collection; Strong (shimmery burgundy) and Steel(shimmery dark grey). I was looking forward to these items the most. I really liked Strong; Steel was just ok for me. I just did my nails yesterday so I can't say how well they apply but they seem similar to other Chanel polishes in terms of consistency.

I wasn't that impressed by the online pic of the Stupendous eye shadow quad. It made me think of the Mystic Eyes quad so I was afraid I would be ordering something not too unique, but online pics can be deceiving so I went ahead and ordered it.

There is a pale pink, a light grey taupe, a plummy brown and a bright silver. It really didn't wow me. It's a nice neutral palette but the colors didn't stand out. I still thought of Mystic Eyes and I dug around my stash till I found it.

Ok, it's not that similar to each other. Mystic Eyes is a bit warmer brown to me, while Stupendous has a more cool plum feel to it. I actually like Mystic Eyes more; the pigmentation is a bit better and there is more shimmer to the colors.

I did order the Star Glossimer as well. It's a pretty shimmery light pink color but can be a bit frosty on it's own. I can see it being pretty layered over other colors~Will try to update today with pics.

I have to admit I loved that my items came in these little pouches:

I figure I can use it for storing travel stuff (?) I really don't know what to do with small pouches and such but it doesn't stop me from being happy when I get random ones with purchases =P

Givenchy Le Prisme Quartet Swatches + FOTD

It was a sunny day in New York and I finally got a chance to take swatch pics for the Givenchy Le Prisme Quartets. I swatched them as they appear in the pan with no primer.

L->R: Pastel Model, Khaki Egerie, Siena Silhouette, Blue Collection, Midnight Look

L->R: Blue Collection and Midnight Look

All the shadows applied super smooth and blended easily. My favorites are Blue Collection and Midnight Look-I love the lower right color in both. My least loved was Pastel Model-the colors were the sheerest (it was also super similar to the Clarins Quartet in Celestial which I already own).

Here was my fotd using Blue Collection:

Givenchy Fall 2010-Le Prisme Quartet

I have a soft spot for Givenchy cosmetics. I don't know what it is, but I do heart many of their products especially their eye shadows. For Fall 2010, they released a new eye shadow palette called Le Prisme Quartet in six shades. Here are pics for five out of the six. Sorry these are just product shots, swatches to come shortly. I haven't played with all the shades but so far, they've performed very well =D

Blue Collection

Midnight Look
Sometimes I think the pics are accurate and other times it seems a bit too navy.
This palette is suppose to be violet themed.

Dior Cherry Flowers Polish

Here are pics of the Sephora exclusive Dior Cherry Flower polish for Fall 2010. It's a bit too warm and borderline mauve-y for me (I took it off after only one day) but it did apply super smooth and I liked the touch of iridescent in the color.

Here's a better pic of the bottle

What do you think of this color for Fall?

Paul & Joe Autumn Collection 2010

I was going to continue with the Guerlain stuff but I've misplaced the charger for my camera so I'll post those pics once I can find it and upload from that camera.

I decided to borrow the bf's camera and take pics of the Paul & Joe Autumn offerings that I picked up this past week from Bergdorfs. I picked up 2 of the eyeshadow palettes and 2 of the cat lipsticks that have generated much buzz since promo pics were released.

The eyeshadow palettes come in paper boxes with designs picked up from the Paul & Joe autumn fashions. The lid is secured with an elastic band. When you remove the lid, you can tuck it under the palette. All the colors in these palettes have shimmer in them.

Closed package
Paper Moon (Swan box)

Silvery Moon (Paisley box)

Paper moon swatches (with flash): Light gold, light pink with gold shimmer, warm orange, chocolate brown and dark brown

Silvery moon swatches (top: no flash, bottom: with flash):
white silver, light gold, moss green, dark grey and dark blue

As cute as the cat lipsticks were, I was kind of creeped out by them at the same time when I saw the promo pics. They are a bit less creepy to me now but it's still a bit strange to use a cat head as a lipstick. I've been using the back of the head so that the face is preserved =)

Top: Over the Moon (medium pink); Bottom: Clair de Lune (mauvey plum)

There are also eye liners in this collection but they haven't reached the BG counter yet. Overall, this collection offers lovely shimmery shadows and neutral lip colors. Although the main draw for me was the packaging =)

Guerlain 29 Rue de Sevres swatches and Caresse de L'aube Blush

Just a quick post to share the swatches of the Guerlain 29 Rue de Sevres palette. The colors are a bone beige, a light taupe, a blue low shimmer grey, a shimmery seafoam green, a shimmery silver beige and a dark brown grey liner. The daylight pics are indoors near a window, but it was a bit of an overcast day. Coloring wise, I am about a NC35-40 (maybe higher) right now.

Palette in (overcast) daylight

Swatches in daylight, they really do not appear as flat as they are in this lighting,
but the shimmer is subtle except for the lighter colors.

More Guerlain items to come in the next post, including the Caresse de L'Aube blush.

Guerlain 29 Rue de Sevres-Fall 2010

I was hanging out with Mona (MakeMeBlushhh) and we stopped by Saks Fifth Avenue to feed her shoe fetish. Upon entering the store, I tackled her when I saw that the Fall 2010 make up collection was out at the Guerlain counter. We were talking about this collection earlier in the day and how drool worthy the packaging was for the eyeshadow palettes. I was the weak one and left with one of the eyeshadow palettes, blush, one lipstick and one gloss.

The eyeshadow sextets are all named for Guerlain store locations in Paris. I picked the 29 Rue de Sevres palette because it was the one that I felt had the most contrast between all the colors.

Leaflet -Perhaps many shadows are similar in the palettes
so they can create this "tone on tone" look.

I did not get a chance to do swatches yet so that will be in the next post along with the other items I picked up.
