Lipstick Queen Five Minutes of Fame Gloss Sets

While shopping for secret santa goodies, I came upon these gloss sets from Lipstick Queen. Each set includes 5 colors from their 15 minutes of Fame Pop Art Gloss collection. The colors are labeled from 1 minute to 15 minutes and go from pink/nude shades to a deep berry/red shades. The Five Minutes of Fame Gloss Sets come in 2 variations-The Nudes and The Berries.

The Nudes (from L to R) contain Minutes #1 (pale pink), #12 (medium berry pink), #3 (bright medium pink) , #4 (nude pink), and #13 (bright berry).

The glosses come with a brush applicator. It was kind of annoying that they brushes don't seem to be even between the different shades so some glosses had a longer/thinner brush tip than others.


The glosses wear well. They have almost a gel consistency and aren't sticky at all.

The Berries set (From L to R) contain Minutes #5 (sheer nude), #2 (light pink), #14(berry red), #11(violet) and #15(brick red).

Each of these "mini" glosses contain 0.04 fl oz of product while I thin the "full size" is 0.06 fl oz, so these sets are quite a good deal considering they are priced at $28 while individual pop art glosses are $16.5o. I bought these sets from Space NK. I've seen them at both the Bloomingdale installations and the free standing stores. On the website, they only have the Berries set listed. Rococo Nail Apparel~Holiday trio and Gold Fleck Polish

In the midst of trying to complete my Christmas shopping. I stumbled upon Rococo Nail Apparel. When I first saw the display at Space NK in Bloomingdales, I thought the colors were pretty but nothing called out to me. I ended up having to go to the freestanding Space NK a few blocks away to pick up an item and I noticed that there was an interesting clear polish with gold colored flecks.

I decided to not be impulsive and did not purchase this polish but looking at my one partially painted pinky later made me want it so I went back to get it the next day. Next to the standard display was a holiday set with a pretty shimmery taupe color. I asked the sales associate if it was sold individually and of course it wasn't, so I decided to go ahead and get the holiday trio. Pricewise it's a pretty good deal as well, the set is $34, individual regular polishes are $16.50 each.

Molten Lava is an awesome shimmery silver taupe

Pop culture luxe is a bright berry red with a subtle silver sheen.
There is a "regular" Pop Culture that is the same color but without the silver sheen.

They formula on these were very nice-not too thin and not goopey. The dried time was decent as well. I did 2 coats for the swatches above.

Soooo, I went to purchased the gold leaf polish but turns out they were out of stock. They called the Space NK at Bloomies and they didn't have it either. While the SA was calling another location, the Bloomies one actually called back and said they did have it-yay! Apparently one was on hold but someone didn't come to pick it up.

The gold flecked polish came in a little decorated box (the holiday set comes in a box with similar design:

The polish is clear with 24kt flecks. By itself, it's pretty subtle, but layered over other colors it definitely gives an interested twist to your mani. I didn't shake the bottle enough at first so it was hard to get the flecks onto the brush. After a few shakes it was better. I've been in the mood for the Chanel jade so here it is with the gold fleck layered over it:

Aube couture holiday palettes, Visee LE Glam Hunt and Kate Nudist lipstick

After reading MiuMiu's post on her Christmas present, it reminded me that I had to post my pics on the new Aube couture holiday palettes. I ended up picking 01 (brown shadow and pink lips) and 04 (silver shadow and beige lips). I love the snowflake design on the outside.

Inside contains 4 shadows, 3 lip colors (2 lipsticks and 1 shimmery gloss) and 3 double ended applicators (2 for eyes and 1 for lips). For the eye shadows, they are layout in the compact as a guide for how to wear them with the side color being the liner shade. The lip colors get a plastic cover to help protect them from any stray eyeshadow powders and from getting onto the mirror.

I did end up liking 01 more since all the eyeshadows had good pigmentation and they were really pretty shades of shimmery browns. The main silver color in 04 didn't have very good pigmentation and was almost indistinguishable from the highlighter color.

I've been in an shimmery earthy colors mood and I ended up ordering the Visee LE glam hunt palette in mauve since I thought the beige brown option might be too warm for me. This is a really pretty palette and the quality of the shadows are excellent-they go on smooth and vibrant.

On this neutral kick I also ordered one of the nudist designing lipsticks from Kate in BE-01. I'm always afraid that the nude color will be too pale and make me look like a corpse but this one turned out to have just right amount of pink to it.

Chanel La Ligne Professional Eyeliner Duos

As part of its holiday collection 2009, Chanel released a new shade of its La Ligne Duo Eyeliner called Celadon Lame. It reminded me how awesome these liners were and how I had been neglecting the earlier versions.

The La Ligne liners come with 2 powder shades in each compact. One being matte and the other having a bit more shimmer to it. You can use it dry or wet. There is a mini pointed sponge applicator and a mini liner brush included in the compact. I prefer the using the liner wet (usually with water) since I like a more vivid liner. Currently, there are 3 shades of this liner - Noir Lame, Brun Lame and Celadon Lame. I do not know how limited each shade is although the Brun Lame and Celadon Lame have been labeled as being limited editions.

Only Celadon Lame has a strong color distinction between the 2 pans. For the noir and brun versions there is definitely a subtler difference; the lame side is just a bit more shimmery than the matte side. I love the formula for these liners since they are pretty resistent to smudging. I have a tendency to rub my eyes and for the most part these liners can stand up to it pretty well. They may fade a bit but they don't completely disappear. I rubbed my swatches a bit left to right and top to bottom:

They held up decently I think. I have not tried using a sealing gel with these liners so the smudge resistence may be bumped up if you use a different wet base.

Here's an end of the day pic of the liner in the darker color from the celadon lame, no touch up. I did not rub my eye that much that day so it stayed pretty fresh.

The only drawback for me is the extra time it takes to dampen the liner. I tend to damped the brush a little at a time so I have better control but this is one of the smoothest liners I've use and maybe it'll motivate me to try and be less rush-y in the mornings. =)

Tsumori chisato for shu uemura-Ribbon palette and Lipgloss trio

I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the Ribbon palette and lip gloss trio from the tsumori chisato for shu uemura collection. I primarily ordered for the packaging-it's just too friggin cute but shu has pretty good quality in it's make up so I gave these pieces a shot.

The Ribbon palette (I've seen it labeled as radiant ribbon palette and ribbon planet palette, so I'm just calling it Ribbon) :

It has 3 powder eye shadows (a shimmery pink, shimmery gold and matte lilac), 2 liners (gold shimmer brown and bright silver) and 1 blush (shimmery gold peach).

I was pretty happy with this palette. The shadows went on smooth, had good pigmentation and blended easily. I did not try the 2 creme liners though. The blush looks super bright but goes on pretty sheer (hence, the swatch didn't really show up).

The other item that wooed me was the cute lip gloss trio. It comes in a nylon bag with gold drawstring and star print.

The lip glosses go on nicely. They aren't sticky but I can't say how well they wear. They do have a scent to them (similar to Lancome Fever glosses), but the scent doesn't seem to linger long.

This collection is pretty and has adorable packaging. The make up itself is solid and seems to wear well. The main drawback is the price, but to soften the blow. You can order them on sephora.com and use the friends and family code, FF2009 for 20% off (valid till 11/2).

Mac Magic, Mirth and Mischief eyeshadows and dazzleglass

A quickie post~I went to the Mac Pro store to get the elusive Volcanic Ash mask today and they happen to have some items from the Magic, Mirth and Mischeif collection. I picked up the mineralized duos in Under Your Spell, Midnight Madness and Devil May-Care and the She-zam dazzleglass.

I really liked the pigmentation in the larger sections of the duos. You can build up the color quite well. The smaller highlighter shade is much dustier, grittier and fall out seems to likely occur. The really liked the multi colored glitter with the silver gloss-will definitely be fun to layer it over other lip colors. I will probably try these out tomorrow and report on how well they wear. It's getting late and I should def be in bed already, bah.

Givenchy Holiday 2009

I think that Givenchy has some of the best packaging around and for the holiday 2009 collection, it definitely did not disappoint in terms of presentation.

The Le Prisme Perles eyeshadow quad (Precious pearls) comes in an adorable drawstring satin pouch. There are applicators included in the pouch and the quad itself comes in a satin box with a removable lid (another jewelry-ish container).

The quad has 4 shimmery shades in white, pale yellow, pale pink and grey. When I got this palette, it reminded me a lot of the Prisme Again! eyeshadow quad in Precious Shimmer but the Prisme Perles has a better pigmentation to it and the colors are a bit different.

Overall, definitely not a must have item but more of a lovely gift to have or receive. The packaging is lovely and the quad is decent but not very unique color wise.

I was more satisfied with the other items in this collection that I ordered. There is a new Parad'Eyes Fluid Eye liner in Tender pearl (a pretty metallic pink), a Rouge Interdit Shine lipstick in Pearl Shine (a sheer pearl shimmer) and a Gloss Interdit in Tender Pearl (a shimmery pale pink). The packaging did not have a pretty etching like the Le Poetiques but the lipstick case is infused with silver glitter. The tender pink gloss is a very pretty shimmery pink. I didn't think I would like the Pearl Shine lipstick since this isn't much color but it does give a nice pearl shimmer to your lips that noticeable but not too frosty. I've been wanting a nice pink eyeliner and this fits the bill. With a thin line, it doesn't scream pink but give a nice bit of shimmery pop to your eyes.
