MÜLE(뮬): Make Your Own Rule Theme 1 Make Up

I thought I had posted about this make-up collection but quickly realized that I had dropped the beauty blogging ball on this topic. So *cough* these items were purchased last year. MÜLE is the beauty brand from Jung Saem Mool, a popular Korean make-up artist. I had discovered her youtube channel and liked the tutorials that were posted but I had not realized she had released a make-up line till a few other bloggers were tweeting about some of the items. I visited the channel to see what they were talking about and the items piqued my interest. I was still fearful of using gmarket at the time so I ordered a set from evil-bay that included the Artist Essential Primer, Artist Correcealer Balm in Shade 02, Artist Curve Brush & Puff and Moist Fixing Powder.

Boxed items and a pamphlet that was included (along with an intruding cat)

Items unboxed

Artist Essential Primer
A dual phase liquid that consists of 7 plant based essential oils.

Artist Correcealer Balm in Shade 02
Compact includes a fingerprint sponge. There is a mirror under the tips sheet on top.

On the right, there is a removable screen.

Shade 02 has a peach face color and a foundation shade (I'm guessing suitable to about NC30). The foundation has a consistency similar to Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua but has a heavier feel to it. I found the foundation balm to be a bit light for my skin tone and the undertone was a bit off. I can wear this shade during winter months but the color match is so so.  I will try to update with a swatch.

Upon opening the lid, the screen is to help remove excess when using the Artist Essential brush and the surface next to the screen is for use with the fingerprint puff.

Artist Curve Brush and Puff
The brushes were the most anticipated items from the set. The brush is very soft and dense and works well with liquid and cream foundations. The puff is nice with cream blushes and I like the option of not having to apply blush with my fingers.

I've washed the brushes a few times and they've both have held up well - no shedding or distortion.

Moist Fixing Powder

A setting powder with pearl particles. Gives a nice soft finish when applied. The puff is designed to emulate a fingertip and you apply the powder in dabbing motions to the face. The top does crew off so you can use a brush if you prefer. This powder reminded me of the Mac Magically Cool Liquid Powder from the Disney Villains Collection.

Here's a video showing all the products in action. This brand is a bit hard to purchase outside of Korea but gmarket is a decent option if you are interested.

Chanel Holiday 2011-A few product pics

I got the chance to meet with the lovely Macnunu and Asiyakei today. We made trip to Saks and found that the new holiday items from Chanel were available. Here's just a few quick product pics of what I purchased~

Hearts! and a giveaway

Maybe it's because Valentine's day is almost here but there's been a few heart themed releases. The first one I noticed was the mood boosting powders from Physicians Formula. I picked up the blushes, face powder and bronzer since there was a buy one get 50% off the second sale along with a $3 off coupon off on each item.

I love the design on these. They have a violet sent to them that is suppose to "provide a feeling of joy each time you apply". It's most noticeable in the pan but it fades once you apply it to your face. The scent reminds me of the Guerlain Meteorites powders =) There are also plant extracts that are meant to promote the feeling of happiness because they mimic the effects of Endorphins (feel good chemical released in your body). I don't know if I get a boost of happiness from these powders but they do go on very nicely. You can easily build up or play down the colors from the blush and bronzer. The face powder has a bit of shimmer to it but just enough so you have a bit of glow.

The other super adorable item was the Make Me Blush palette from Stila. It's currently sold out on the stila.com site, but Sephora.com offers a set with the blush and 2 lipglazes. The gold is just an overspray. I haven't used this item yet since I want to preserve the cuteness just a bit longer.

So just to share some love, I'm giving away a new Stila Make Me Blush palette along with a Paul & Joe make up pouch, sheet masks, mini Posie tint, Paul & Joe skincare samples and a light pink lip balm.

Chanel Soho Collection

I've walked by the Chanel Soho boutique 2 days ago and it was abuzz with construction for it's grand re-opening. I'm excited to go visit the renovated store but for now, I'll just enjoy this collection released in honor of it's re-opening. This collection is available online and through the Chanel Soho Store starting on 9/10 (Fashion's Night Out). The Soho Collection actually became available on Chanel.com on last Friday and since I didn't know when I'll be able to make it to the Soho boutique; I ordered almost the whole collection except for a few lip colors.

Here is the highlighting/blush compact:

It has a shimmery brown(on the reddish side), white shimmer and light pink powders. Sorry I could not get a good swatch pic.

There are 2 polishes released with this collection; Strong (shimmery burgundy) and Steel(shimmery dark grey). I was looking forward to these items the most. I really liked Strong; Steel was just ok for me. I just did my nails yesterday so I can't say how well they apply but they seem similar to other Chanel polishes in terms of consistency.

I wasn't that impressed by the online pic of the Stupendous eye shadow quad. It made me think of the Mystic Eyes quad so I was afraid I would be ordering something not too unique, but online pics can be deceiving so I went ahead and ordered it.

There is a pale pink, a light grey taupe, a plummy brown and a bright silver. It really didn't wow me. It's a nice neutral palette but the colors didn't stand out. I still thought of Mystic Eyes and I dug around my stash till I found it.

Ok, it's not that similar to each other. Mystic Eyes is a bit warmer brown to me, while Stupendous has a more cool plum feel to it. I actually like Mystic Eyes more; the pigmentation is a bit better and there is more shimmer to the colors.

I did order the Star Glossimer as well. It's a pretty shimmery light pink color but can be a bit frosty on it's own. I can see it being pretty layered over other colors~Will try to update today with pics.

I have to admit I loved that my items came in these little pouches:

I figure I can use it for storing travel stuff (?) I really don't know what to do with small pouches and such but it doesn't stop me from being happy when I get random ones with purchases =P

Chanel Spring 2010-Highlighting Powder, Polish and Fluid Eyeshadow

After seeing The Beauty Look Book's awesome pics of Chanel's spring collection. I was hoping my Bloomingdale's counter would have this line-up available. To my wallet's chagrin, it was available. I decided to pass on the Eye shadow quad in kaska beige even though it was a gorgeous palette, I do own similar colors. I ended up being wooed by the Empreinte de Chanel highlighting powder, Particuliere nail polish and Torrent Ombre d'eau.

Particuliere polish and Torrent Ombre d'eau (fluid eyeshadow)

Empreinte de Chanel power without and with flash. An angle brush is included with this compact but in a separate pouch. I can't decide if I really like the pattern. It reminds me of slides the eye doctor shows you to test for color blindness.

Swatches without and with flash:

I swatched the highlighter powder with the included brush. I was afraid that the powder would be too shimmery but when the associate showed me how subtle it can be when she brushed it on my cheeks. She also layered blush over it afterward and it was a nice combination-gave a nice subtle definition. So it's a bit similar to the Paul and Joe highlighting powder from the holiday collection in that you can use it as a highlighter or you can just it sparingly all over.

The Particuliere polish is a nice milk chocolate brown creme color. Click here to see more swatches and comparisons.

I loved the Ombre d'eau in Torrent. It's a really pretty gold olive bronze-y color which blends so easily and can be applied more sheer or opaque, depending on your look. The tube contains a pigment portion and a base that naturally separates so before you use the shadow you need to shake the 2 elements together. It has a sponge applicator and dries to a shimmery powder finish. There is also a matching eyeliner called Khaki dore which has a brighter green color to it.

Yikes, it's not even Christmas and I'm being tempted by Spring make-up!

Paul & Joe Holiday 2009

I went to an event at the Paul & Joe counter at Bergdorf today. They were doing makeovers and revealed the new holiday 2009 collection. It was a nice event and everyone at the counter was really friendly and helpful.

There are 2 new highlighting powders that were released. There is a gorgeous design over the powder but the time the compact was being used on me, the design was gone. The mua ended up using the powder not for highlighting but as an all over finishing powder and it was quite nice. It has a bit of shimmer but very subtle. The design is so pretty, its almost a shame to use. I did not see the pink version of this powder since everything was scattered because of the makeovers going on. All the pics below are indoors with natural lighting.

Compact does come with a brush

I decided to pick a smoky eye look so the mua used the 001 eye shadow palette. It's a nice trio of shadows, but once I got home I think I may have a lot of similar shadows so I'm not sure if I'll keep it, hence no swatches. First color is a pale lilac color, middle is a light taupe and the last is a dark shimmery grey. I may go for the 002 palette which has more golden shadows since I don't have as many in that family. The mua also used a new loose black pigment with silver glittery, the glittery didn't really stick since it was dry. Almost like a loose version of MAC Cinderfella mineral shadow.

Pretty purple and gold design for this collection

I was excited to see the new lip lacquers that were released. They come in squeeze tubes and went on smooth without any stickiness and the pigmentation was good. Some colors do have shimmer and others did not. I picked up 01 and 05. There is also a new pencil eyeliner released. It has the decorative purple design and comes in a dark grey color.

Left to Right: 001 (peach) and 005 (deeper peach with shimmer)

Eyeliner in 001

I ended up getting a gift with purchase. A cute set iwth a notebook, soap dish (?) and skin care samples including the peeling mask. I ended up buying a full size because I really like peeling masks but it's nice that I can actually sample it before committing.

**Update** Other items from the holiday collection are a pouch and vanity box with the purple and gold decoration. The pouch was cute and can be used as a makeup bag or a clutch. The box was just a box with a handle. It was pretty but I had hoped that there were compartments inside.
