Paul & Joe Confetti and YSL Summer Polishes

Just a quick post on a few new polishes I picked up at Bergdorfs recently.

First up is another polish from Paul & Joe Summer. I was initially going to pass on Confetti because I thought I may have a few too similar polishes but turns out it is pretty unique among my glitters. It's clear with multi colored glitters. I thought it would appear more silver on the nail but you can still see the different colors.

Swatch is about 3 coats

Mobile phone pic. This was 4 coats

The other polishes I snagged were from YSL. Love the bright yellow and blue that are offered as part of their summer collection. I also picked up a creme blush and lipstick but I have not used them yet. The polishes were really smooth and opaque. Swatches below are 2 coats.

Left: Surreal yellow, Right: Utopian Turquoise

Love the brightness of this yellow.

Nars Summer 2011 part 2 and a shiny fing

The sun was out today so I took the chance to take more pics of the Nars summer collection. Here are better pics of Cap Ferrat, Exotic Dance and Dogon.

Cap Ferrat

Exotic Dance and Dogon

The only lip color I skipped on was the Carthage matte lipstick because as much as I liked the color, I couldn't see myself wearing it all that much. Here are pics for Mayflower, Bolero and Wonder.

Mayflower
-Goes on smooth, with a bit of shine.

Bolero Velvet Matte Pencil
-Quite a bold and unforgiving peach color. I prefer it topped with Wonder.

Wonder lip gloss
-Gorgeous glossy and shimmery orange
When I saw the New Order blush, I was afraid the shimmer would be a bit too chunky but once applied, it works as a subtle highlighter.

Swatches:

Top: New Order
Bottom (l ->r): Mayflower, Bolero, Wonder, Bolero topped with Wonder

I've been loving orange/coral lips lately so the Nars offerings were right up my alley and New Order was a pleasant surprise.

As I was looking at the Cap Ferrat trio, I realized the colors were reminiscent of a shiny fing that I recently purchased. I have been a follower of Yasumi's lovely blog and was delighted that she was once again making shiny fings. I ordered her "Principessa Oceano" earrings and they arrived at a lightening speed (2 days from the UK to US-I didn't know it was possible!).

They came wrapped with care:

and safely contained:

I think they go well with Cap Ferrat:

Nars Summer 2011-Eyeshadows

I made a visit to the Nars boutique today and to my delight (and my wallet's chagrin), the summer collection was available. I knew I would love the Cap Ferrat trio that would be released but I was hesitant about the duos and eye pencil. I was weak sauce and somehow caved into all of them.

The trio is a smidge bigger than the regular duo

Cap Ferrat and Exotic Dance Duo

Exotic Dance contains a silvery white and light bronze. These two colors won me over with it's smoothness and lovely sheen.

Dogon contains a soft taupe duochrome and a dark grey with a bit of shimmer. I was on the fence about this duo, but once I walked around the boutique and got to see the taupe color change depending on the light; I really wanted to take it home to play.

All of the shadows swatched very nicely. I will give these a try tomorrow and update on how well they wear. Also, lip and nail colors to come!

Chanel Mimosa Polish

I was a bit afraid of Chanel Mimosa after reading BritishBeautyBlogger's post on her first try at applying this color. I usually have a tricky time with yellows so I was expecting the worse. BritishBeautyBlogger had success using Seche Vite under the polish but I decided to see how the polish was using my usual base coat prep and base coat by Rescue Beauty Lounge. The application turned out be ok. There was a bit streaking at first, but everything evened out after three coats.

I've been loving yellow nails-my other favorite polish has been Yellow Seahorse by L'oreal. I thought it might have been a possible dupe but Mimosa is a bit of a brighter lemon yellow while Yellow Seahorse is a bit deeper and the shimmer is more apparent. Will post comparison pics soon.

Chanel Summer 2011-Quick Product pics

I spotted the Chanel Summer Collection at Bloomingdales this afternoon. I also took a quick peek at the Chanel boutique in Soho and they also seemed to have this collection available as well. I'm always on the hunt for the perfect green shadows and hopefully these may fit the bill-

Dior Electric Tropics Polishes-Summer 2011

I had made a trip to Saks Fifth Avenue today to see if there was any info on the Mitzah collection. The SA didn't have any info :( I had also decided to make a visit to see which Dior polishes were available at Saks. I was drawn to a few punchy colors which stood out with their tinted bottles. Turns out they are part of the Electric Tropics collection for the Summer :)

There were 2 colors-Aloha and Paradise.

The box called these fluorescent polishes and each comes with a top coat polish.

Aloha is a bright orange; bottle is orange tinted.

Paradise is a pinky-coral color; bottle is pink tinted

As with other neon polishes, the polish dries to a rubbery sort of finish

Paradise without any topcoat, Aloha dries with a bit more shine to it.

With the Dior topcoat:

The formula on the polishes were nice. They went on smooth although there was still a bit of visible nail line after 3 coats. Drying time was pretty short. I can't wait for more pieces from this collection and for summer to arrive!
