The Face Shop x Kakao Friends - Sun Cushion, Photogenic Sun Blur, Melting Color Lip Creamers and Sheet Masks

The Face Shop recently released a Kakao friends collaboration that had some super cute items. In case you're wondering - Kakao is a South Korean Internet company that offers a variety of services. The most popular being Kakao talk - a free messaging service. The Kakao friends are characters in the app and help to liven up your messages. Each one has a different personality, which you can read about here. The most prominent one in this collaboration is Muzi- a radish dressed up as a bunny. I love bunnies so I couldn't resist getting a few pieces.

Baby Sun Cushion and Photogenic Sun Blur.
A big focus for this collection is suncare. The baby sun cushion has SPF34 PA++ and ingredients that are gentle enough for a baby's skin including organic Sunflower Sprout Extract and a Mineral UV filter. It can also be washed off with water. I primarily got this for the adorable case which is matte and the design is printed on (not a sticker). It is re-fillable once the sunscreen runs out and I discovered that it is compatible with iope cushion refills.

The puff is so cute; the white tray lifts to reveal the cushion.
The other suncare item I ordered was the photogenic sun blur which has SPF50+ PA+++ and promises to brighten your skintone and give a soft-focus effect. I was looking to see if this would be a suitable primer under foundations and it seems to work. It does deliver a brightening/smoothing effect. One negative is that it does have a fairly heavy scent - reminds me of a shampoo - maybe pert plus?

Top: right out of the tube; Bottom: blended
There were also some Melting Color Lip Creamer (what a name) shades released. I picked 10 Fresh Muzi (bright orange) and 12 Cute Frodo (peach). They are pretty pigmented and have a hydrating lip balm texture and contains sugar so it will "melt" on your lips.
Cute packaging

Caps twist off. Right: Muzi, left: Frodo, about 3 swipes?
The last item I got from this collection were the sheet masks. They are sold individually or in a box of five (one of each character). I got the box of five and these masks are a bit scary because they do have the character faces printed on the sheet. I had received 2 bonus masks - Frodo (Olive - Moisturizing) and Neo (Blueberry - Resilience) and tested both out. They were ok masks but they were more novelty than anything else.
R-> L: Frodo (Olive - Moisturizing), Neo (Blueberry - Resilience), Muzi (Apple - Soothing), Tube (Cotton seed - Brightening), Apeach (Hyaluronic acid - Hydrating)
It's a cute collection and I think all the products are pretty solid. I do wonder if this was a one-off collab or it will be expanded in future seasons. It would be nice to see a regular cushion or other lip products (personal fave is the ink lipquids). Other types of items in this current collection are concealers, eye shadow palettes and purfume. Hope you liked this post; it's been ages since my last entry but I wanted to share some pics/info on these since they are still pretty new and my next post will be about another cute collaboration that was released last month as well- stay tuned!

Green polish comparison and notd

Sorry for the lack of postings. I've been busy tidying things up at work since I'm taking a few days off for my birthday/thanksgiving. I'm taking a short trip to Toronto, Canada. I've been there before but would love to hear any recs for places to eat/shop if anyone wants to share =)

Anyway, I've been meaning to post this reference pic comparing Illamasqua Milf to Essie Mint Candy Apple and Chanel Jade. The fourth color is Essie Lollipop.

I attempted to use this gradation lame liquid that I purchase on ichibankao.com ages ago. You're suppose to dab it on the border between your 2 nail colors and then drag the brush down towards the base of your nail to produce a gradation. The liquid works ok, but it takes patience to dab on the right amount and make a quick enough brush motion to get a smooth effect. My ring finger ended up with a more prominent gradation than my other nails but it didn't stand out enough for me to re-do it =P
Instead of buying this liquid you could probably diy by using a brush and nail polish remover but I have not try this method.

I used Zoya in Gigi (pale pink with silver shimmer), layered a shimmery white polish from the face shop and did tips with Jill Stuart Secret diamond (from the anniversary set).

Mitsuwa and TheFaceShop

I managed to convince the bf to take a drive to Mitsuwa and stock up on some japanese goodies. I had lunch before I went but by the time we got to the market, I was getting hungry which resulted in snack overload. I got some fruit gummies, seaweed and salt chips (so addicting), chocolate and some non-giant pocky. Here's is the gummy I'm currently snacking on:

It's pretty good, I like that it's not overly sweet. They also don't have a fully smooth gummy texture, there is a bit of grit (?) to them that I haven't decided if I like or not.

Hee, I found a heart shaped gummy.

We did get some real groceries too and I got some lip balm and new shampoo. I've been using the Shiseido Tsubaki for awhile and I decided to try the Lux shampoo to change it up.

After Mitsuwa, we went to TheFaceShop. Correction, I went to TheFaceShop while my bf stayed in the car and played with his PSP or as he calls it "saving the world". It was awkward because I was the only person in the store. I always hate the part where they speak to me in Korean and I look at them confused or just start speaking english to them. They left me alone which is nice and I wandered quickly through the store since it was after 7 and I was worried they were closing. Here's what I grabbed:

Hoping this eye cream will help with the undereye circles, although it would also help if I went to bed earlier. =P

Some polish and rhinestones. I would have picked up some more polish (not that I need it)
but I didn't think I had time.

I have a few sheet mask so I decided to try some blemish patches and pore strips.

Inspired by Steph's shisem haul, I picked up a few myself.
I slooowly getting better at applying these and wearing them.

Samples that they gave me, I heart samples. Can't wait to test out their BB cream.

So it was a productive trip to NJ today. Afterwards we went to Tar-jay. Nothing exciting there. I got cheez-its and for once, I did not purchase any make-up.

I also want to share the cutest pillow cases that I found yesterday:

I adore tokidoki. I have multiple bags, a mouse pad, pins and now pillow cases. I don't like all the characters but I do like Adios, Ciao Ciao and their cats Skeletrino and Skeletrina. I first got the figurines of both cats and when my bf decided we should have Adios and Ciao Ciao, I found out Adios is discontinued so finding him will be tricky. Oh well. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's already after 2am and I have to get up early tomorrow. sigh.
