Jill Stuart Eye Jelly Collection

I had ordered 2 of the new Jill Stuart Eye Jellys from the Summer collection and I realized that I have amassed quite a collection. I had posted about Eye jellys here (I can't believe that post was 2 years ago), but I figure I would do a general collection post to show the other Eye Jellys that I've acquired since that post.

These are the old Jill Stuart Eye Jellys, the new/current ones came out in 2009.

Jill Stuart Spring 2010

I'm always drawn into the Jill Stuart make up collections in part because of the packaging but for Spring, I thought the colors were interesting as well. I ordered 2 of the new Jewel Crystal Eyes palettes; Crystal Ruby and Princess Sapphire and the Mix blush in Rose Fairy.

Crystal Ruby:

Princess Sapphire:

Swatches (Top: Crystal Ruby, Bottom: Princess Sapphire):

The Crystal Ruby palette has a pale gold, a golden pink, a medium ruby, and a dark burgundy. I did prefer this palette over the Princess Sapphire palette which contained a pale pink, a lilac, a deep pink and a dark violet because the pigmentation was a bit better and the shimmer a bit more subdue. The colors were also more unique than other Jill Stuart palettes that I can recall. The shadows were very smooth overall and I had no problems with fading or much fallout from the shimmer.

Pics of the Rose Fairy blush:

It's a very pretty pink blush and the colors don't contain any shimmer except for the top right pink shade but the shimmer is very fine. The powder is very smooth and you can easily build up or down the intensity.

Overall, a nice spring collection worth checking out if you like more girlie type of spring colors. =)

Green polish comparison and notd

Sorry for the lack of postings. I've been busy tidying things up at work since I'm taking a few days off for my birthday/thanksgiving. I'm taking a short trip to Toronto, Canada. I've been there before but would love to hear any recs for places to eat/shop if anyone wants to share =)

Anyway, I've been meaning to post this reference pic comparing Illamasqua Milf to Essie Mint Candy Apple and Chanel Jade. The fourth color is Essie Lollipop.

I attempted to use this gradation lame liquid that I purchase on ichibankao.com ages ago. You're suppose to dab it on the border between your 2 nail colors and then drag the brush down towards the base of your nail to produce a gradation. The liquid works ok, but it takes patience to dab on the right amount and make a quick enough brush motion to get a smooth effect. My ring finger ended up with a more prominent gradation than my other nails but it didn't stand out enough for me to re-do it =P
Instead of buying this liquid you could probably diy by using a brush and nail polish remover but I have not try this method.

I used Zoya in Gigi (pale pink with silver shimmer), layered a shimmery white polish from the face shop and did tips with Jill Stuart Secret diamond (from the anniversary set).

Lunch time visit to Jill Stuart

Ever since I read tidbits on how the Jill Stuart soho store has started to carry beauty items, I couldn't wait to visit the store and see what they have. I walk in the store and it was empty except for 4-5 girls (most who worked there it seemed). I looked around trying to spot a beauty counter. mmh maybe it's downstairs. I walk down the stairs and nope, all very fancy evening wear.

I go back upstairs and walk deeper in the store and I spotted. They had a handful of items in a display case off to the side near the registers-huh? So I stared at it and I could not believe they weren't out in the open-even Chanel boutiques have testers out in the open for you to try out their product. I think you can ask to try the items but what a hassle. Then I couldn't believe how small the selection was- 3 eye shadow palettes, 3 blush palettes, 3 lip jelly, 3 lip glosses out of a collection that has about 19 eye shadow palettes, 10 blush palettes, 26 lip glosses etc. It didn't even have the latest fall offerings. Boo. To see pics of this itty bitty display, please click here. I asked the SA (who were not helpful whatsoever and ignored me for the most part) if that was it for their beauty collection. She said yes and went back to her newspaper. So lame. I hope they do expand the collection and other venues start to carry it since that store's customer service was pretty lacking.

Jill Stuart 5th anniversary Diamond Sparkle Nail Collection

I had ordered the Jill Stuart Diamond Sparkle Nail Collection from gooddealer.com and of course it arrives to work the day I planned to take a day off, but thankfully my co-worker/friend picked up the package for me and I was able to pick it up from her house before the long weekend.

The box was cute, a bit smaller than I thought judging from the outer box since there are 2 foam cushions for padding. It has a decent weight and would make for a cute place to store jewelry, once I clear a spot on my dresser. I've never tried Jill Stuart nail polish before and these 3 were pretty decent. The floral smell that lingers after the polish dries reminds me of the Paul & Joe summer polishes. I haven't worn them for an extended period of time so I can't say how long it lingers or how long the polish lasts but in the future, I'll probably give other colors a try.

Jill Stuart Summer 2009-Eye jelly and lip jelly

It was an icky rainy day in NYC, I was cheered up by having access to waffles near the office and the fact that I had gotten a few of the new Jill Stuart items in the mail.

I couldn't resist getting some of the new eye jellys. I loved the shimmer that they give and they last quite a long time. I ended up putting on 2 colors this afternoon and they held all day (I did have some udpp and eyeshadow on as well). I ordered the 3 eye jellys: berry sparkle, crystal sky and midnight shine. Berry sparkle is a bright pink color, crystal sky is a mauve-y color and midnight shine is more of a dark indigo (purple/blue) than a dark navy as the swatch online shows.

L-R: Berry sparkle, crystal sky and midnight shine

Crystal sky is the eye color worn in the JS advertisement for this collection along with Dimond snow (pearly white, not pictured). On lips, the model is wearing the lip jelly in Sensual Nude, which I also fell in love with. The jelly has a very nice texture, it gives your lips lots of shimmer and shine without being sticky.

Swatches! Sensual nude on top.
Berry sparkle, crystal sky and midnight shine on bottom, L ->R

In case anyone was wondering, the new eye jellys have the same fruity scent consistency as the old jellys, but there are differences in the packaging.

Overall, new container is smaller and more decorated than old container.

The opening is also smaller in the new container.

However, both containers are label as 6g. Upon closer inspection, the new container is actually deeper than the old container and goes pass the part with the grooves for the lid while the old container was more shallow.

For summer 09, there was also a new illuminance eye shadow palette released but it didn't catch my eye enough to purchase. I am looking forward to perhaps getting more jellys =)
