Paul & Joe Confetti and YSL Summer Polishes

Just a quick post on a few new polishes I picked up at Bergdorfs recently.

First up is another polish from Paul & Joe Summer. I was initially going to pass on Confetti because I thought I may have a few too similar polishes but turns out it is pretty unique among my glitters. It's clear with multi colored glitters. I thought it would appear more silver on the nail but you can still see the different colors.

Swatch is about 3 coats

Mobile phone pic. This was 4 coats

The other polishes I snagged were from YSL. Love the bright yellow and blue that are offered as part of their summer collection. I also picked up a creme blush and lipstick but I have not used them yet. The polishes were really smooth and opaque. Swatches below are 2 coats.

Left: Surreal yellow, Right: Utopian Turquoise

Love the brightness of this yellow.

(Sorry for the smudges)

Paul & Joe Summer 2011-Polishes, Bronzer, Eye Gloss

Here are quick pics of items from Paul & Joe Blue Horizon collection. While wandering in Flushing, there was shop that carried a few of the new releases. I picked up polishes in Mediterranean and Venus, the bronzer and eye gloss duo in Delicate. The summer limited edition items have a pretty light blue packaging.

I couldn't resist the Mediterranean polish (016). I almost walked away from it for fear it would be sheer but it looked so magical I knew I had to give it a shot. It has a blue-green jelly base with round flakes and glitter! It did take about 4 coats to get it completely opaque.

It does dry a bit bumpy because of the flakes

Index, middle: Mediterranean
Ring, Pinky: Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings the Blues
I would curious how the glitter flakes would compare between the 2 polishes
Flash makes Mediterranean look more sheer than it really is

*Update*
Here's a comparison pic between Mediterranean (Index, Middle) and Deborah Lippmann Across the Universe (Ring, Pinky)

Mediterranean has a blue green base with blue flakes while Across the Universe has a dark blue base with green flakes.

Mediterranean is gorgeous in natural light, it does remind me of shimmery waters. I'll upload a full mani pic once my camera battery is charged.

The other polish that caught my eye was Venus (015); a baby blue when sliver glitter.

Pretty, but not as complex as Mediterranean

How could I say no to a pretty embossed bronzer?

Alas, it is in the too pretty to swatch right now category. I saw the tester and the white in the embossing does fade although the fish detail is pretty deeply etched.

The new eye gloss duos feel similar to the original singles. There are five permanent shades and 3 limited releases for the summer. I went for Delicate (a shimmery pink and grey with pink sheen). It is part of the permanent releases.

Dabbed on swatches:

Swatches blended out a bit:

So far, I'm liking everything that I've tried. I'm looking forward to seeing the summer eye glosses and eye colors when they become available.

Paul & Joe Spring 2011 + Crackle Notd

There was another bout of snow in New York today, it made me even more eager for Spring to arrive already. Until then, I'll have to settle for the pretty Paul & Joe Spring colors.

The new eye colors for spring are really interesting. They have a soft slippy texture almost like the ombre magnetique shadows from Lancome. They pack a lovely shimmer to them. The leaflet included suggest applying the shadow with your finger. Pics below are in natural light indoors.

Top: 002(Woman With a Parasol), 003(Sunbeam),
Bottom: 004(Pique-Nique), 005 (En Plein Air)

Random eotd using 002~the flash washed out the color a bit :(

Pretty packaging-the nail polishes and eye shadow duos share the same design on their boxes

010 Splendor and 008 Sunshine

Polishes do have the signature Paul & Joe floral scent.

Last week I got my set of China Glaze Crackle polishes. I was on the fence whether I liked the look or not based on the OPI Black shatter pics I've seen, but being able to have different colored crackle seemed pretty fun.

I decided to test them out over the Paul & Joe polishes

L->R: Crushed candy over 008 Sunshine, Lightening Bolt over 010 Splendor, Fault Line over 007 Dapple, and Cracked Concrete over 009 Ray

My favorite was Fault Line over Dapple. Forgot to take a pic with my reg camera. I only had this cell phone pic:

Then after a few days, I decided to let 007 Dapple shine on it's own:

Paul & Joe Holiday 2010-Eye & Lip sets and Nail polish

I'm a sucker for nice packaging and Paul & Joe often has some of the cutest packaging around so it's oh so hard for me to resist. I purchased both of the eye & lip color sets and some of the nail polishes from the holiday collection through beautyhabit.com. I haven't gotten a chance to swatch the collection so it's just product pics for now.

The theme of this collection is "symphony". The lining of the boxes and the eye shadow cards have a sheet music design on them.

Each of the Eye & Lip color sets come in a floral pouch with a kiss clasp.

Interior:

The Eye & Lip color set includes a lip rouge and 5 eyeshadow cards.

For the Adagio set, there is a dark pink/red color combine with a light pink color:

The five eyeshadow cards:

For the Allegro set, the lip rouge is a shimmery clear color combined with a dark pink flower.

The eye shadow cards:

So far, I like the colors in both sets. The eye shadow cards are novel although they do have an over sized sample feel to it =P Hopefully both items will wear well. I will post swatches once I have the heart to use them.

The 2 polishes I decided to get are Classical (light pink) and Minuet (light grey cement):

Close-ups:

Minuet reminds me of Rescue Beauty Lounge Jane polish:

A new press powder duo was also released along with a limited edition compact case with the floral motif like the pouch. There is a Face color and Lip gloss set shown on the Paul & Joe beaute website but I haven't seen it available yet.
