Hello Kitty x Sephora swatches

The Hello Kitty x Sephora collection is now officially available online. I've seen a handful of items at one of the Sephora stores in town so the line should soon be in-stores as well.

The Say Hello Palettes has 4 eye shadows and 4 lip glosses. For the Super Fun palette (Click here for product pics) the eye shadows are: Sugar Plum (pale lilac), Raindrop (dark grey), Sweet Plum (smoky purple with silver sparkles) and Goodnight Dreams (black with silver sparkles); the lip glosses are: Snowflake (clear), Pink confetti (sheer pink), Strawberry Cookie(sheer mauve) and Sweet plum (sheer plum). The eye shadows were nice, but the lip colors were super sheer so they were a bust.

Top (l->r): Snowflake, Pink confetti, Strawberry Cookie, Sweet plum
Bottom (l->r): Sugar Plum, Raindrop, Sweet Plum, Goodnight Dreams

The kohl eyeliner set has 7 liners-Goodnight Dreams (Black), Grape Juice (Violet), Chocolate Milk (Dark Brown), Happy Cloud (Light Gold), Blueberry (Turquoise), Bicycle (Forest Green), and Blue Sky (Navy). The liners are super smooth and the colors are lovely but they do seem to smudge pretty easily.

I decided to try the eyeshadow stick in Cupcake (light gold) and Cream Puff (silvery purple). They go on very smooth and makes a nice eyeshadow base. Cream puff was a great base for the eye shadows from the Super Fun palette.

The Big Smile gloss is a bit sticky but gives has a nice pigmentation to it. Swatch below is for Cheery (Medium pink).

The Sweet glosses, on the other hand, are pretty sheer and only give a hint of color. Below are swatches for Pink Bow (Sheer pink), Peachy (Sheer coral) and Goldfish (shimmery gold). All the Lip colors have a sweet fruity smell to them that reminded me a bit of sanrio erasers when I was growing up.

Top (l->r): Cupcake, Cream puff
Bottom (l->r): Cheery, Pink Bow, Peachy, Goldfish

I also tried out the nail polishes and nail stickers. Will post up pics for those items soon!

Overall, the Hello Kitty x Sephora items are nice but not necessarily amazing. The best part for me was the packaging-it was cute but not too cutesy. I liked that the Hello Kitty motif was printed on the products and not stickered on. The packaging design was pretty clean for the items and not gaudy. As for picking up more from this collection, I will probably try a more eyeshadow sticks and nail polish. I did not get many of the accessories items since I knew I wouldn't really use them. Between this collection and the Mac one, I think I may like this one a bit more for the more pleasing packaging and variety of products. Which one do you prefer?

Sephora x Hello Kitty Product pics

Sorry to interrupt the Chanel postings, but I need to re-do the swatches for the Regard Pearle quad anyway so I thought I would share some pics of things from the Sephora x Hello Kitty collection. I had taken advantage of the preview sale over the weekend on sephora.com for the Hello Kitty collection and to my surprise, an order arrived today! I have another order on it's way, since a few items got re-stocked on Sunday; but for now, please see below for pics of the brush set, eye/lip palette in Super Fun, the Charmmy Kohl Eyeliner kit, some shadow sticks, Pen Pal eyeliner and BigSmile Gloss in Cheery. I haven't tested any products out yet but so far the packaging is really nice ^^

Hello Kitty brush set was smaller than I expected but still cute. It's a shiny plastic but not the finger print magnet type. The white cup that the brushes are in can be removed.

Brushes are travel sized. I'm doubting how effective they will be but we'll see.

Hope you liked the pics!

Hello Kitty Kouture with pics!

I had a crummy day at work and was in a state of high aggravation. I decided to go to MAC to unwind. I saw the new Hello Kitty Kouture items and the compact called to me more than I would like. I asked one of the MA what the sheer mystery powder was exactly since I had never heard of it. She told me it was a finely milled powder. It can be used alone or on top of foundation. It's consistency allows for a little bit of buildability but not much. The mystery powder is a limited release and the MA mentioned that since it is not available year round, the compact does come with a re-fill so you do get 2 pans of powder. This helps a bit to justify the cost ($90) of this puppy. The powder comes in three shades: medium light, medium plus and dark. I'm about a NC25 in mac foundation and I got the medium plus which goes on pretty well. When I was checking out another MA mentioned that the blushes sized for the mac palettes also fit into the compact so its uses can be stretched beyond holding the mystery powder.

I couldn't get the lighting quite right but the arrow points to the section
I think shows the color the best.

I also got the Dazzlepuss lip gloss, it's a very shimmery vibrant pink which is similar to the the Too Faced Girls Dig Pearls lip gloss in Tropical Pink, although the glitter is a bit more fine.

To further help justify my hefty purchase I did receive a HK tote bag.

Hello Kitty Mac release party

It was a cold and snowy night. I stood in line for about 30 mins so I could attend the Hello Kitty release party at the Mac store in Soho. There were 2 half-naked models wearing large Hello Kitty heads, no shirt and pleather pants. I saw one when I was standing in line and I burst out laughing. I felt so bad for them. It was more funny than cute.

The store only had 2 displays for the Hello Kitty collection and 1 display for the Creamteam (cremeteam) items so it was insane trying to test things out. I didn't actually get my hands on everything since it was such a madhouse. I was a part of the first group who got in but they continously let people in and soon enough it was packed in the little store with hardly any room to move. I grabbed the things that looked liked I would like it and tested it quickly and moved on. I ended up getting HK lipstick in Lavender Mews (Frosty lavender pink) and Cutester (beige with a gold shimmer; HK lipgloss in Mimmy (pinky coral with gold shimmer); HK lashes; HK brush set with holder; HK purse mirror, and HK keychain. From the creamteam collection, I got the lipstick in Lavender Whip (lavender cream) and Creme Cup (beige pink). I also grabbed the cremesheen lipgloss in Melt in Your Mouth and Petite Indulgence. I though I would get a HK eye shadow palette but the colors didn't really scream to me. I also passed on the pigments since I don't usually use them. I was tempted to give the glitter liners a shot but I didn't get to test them out.

Isn't the HK stamp on it cute?

I was mainly at the event to get my hands on the HK accessories. I didn't think I would like the HK brush and holder since I thought it would be a fairly large thing, but it turns out it was pretty tiny. The brushes are nothing amazing, I've seen all three in previous mac brush sets.

I had already made my purchases in 30 mins but I stayed around because I really wanted a balloon. I finally got it after waiting around forever and ran home so I could play with my stuff. The BF thought I was crazy, oh well.
