ck Calvin Klein set, lipstick and polish

I remember when ck Calvin Klein first come out and only had some lipstick and lip glosses, now the line has everything from primers to nail polish. I had purchased a few of their lip glosses in the beginning. There one eyeshadow palette I tried was decent but not amazing and some interesting nail polish colors that caught my eye but overall I was never in love with this line or completely interested. However with some of the new offerings I've seen have won me over.

I've been on a creme shadow kick, so when I was trolling the Sephora site one night I saw that the ck line had a few colors listed as new: glamour pink, tropical green and turquoise blue. I had tried tempting glimmer sheer creme shadows when they first came out and I thought these colors might be a bit sheer so I decided to hold off till I saw it in person. It seems that it takes forever sometimes for items on the Sephora.com site to show up in the actual stores but I was happy to see that they actually had these shadows available for me to stick my grubby fingers into. I was pleasantly surprised by the colors. Glamour pink is a nice pastel shimmery pink, tropical green is a nice medium green with golden shimmer and turquoise blue is more of a smokey denim blue, not the bright blue shown online.

I was also impressed by the delicious fusion moisturizing lip color. I was afraid that these colors would be pretty sheer but they turned out to be well pigmented. They go on smooth, creamy and they do leave my lips feeling moisturized. I ended up purchasing love vapor and orchid madness, both have good color payoff although love vapor is more opaque than orchid madness. I really like the bright pink of orchid madness and since it goes on kind of sheer, it's a bit easier to wear and control intensity.

When I was in the Sephora store, I also noticed there were a few new kits offered: a Splendid Glam mini nail polish kit, the Fashion's New Face Signature Collection and the Fashion's New Face Mesmerized collection. I ended up picking up the mesmerized collection since it I like the colors much more. There is a silver glimmer creme shadow, a mini delicious pout lip gloss in orchid, a mini creme lipstick in mesmerized and a nail polish in indigo blue.

Here are swatches of the colors offered in the mini polish kit and 2 of the newer colors. :

L to R: Hint of Pink, Indigo Blue, Heartbreaker, Aqua Splash (mini set colors)
Cashmere (nude color from Signature collection set)
(New Green), Silver Streak

Indigo blue is in both the mini polish kit and the mesmerized kit. For the dark green color: I've only seen in stores and it's not listed online yet.

Ranting, Shoes and flowers

Random post time. Today was just not my day. Nothing particularly bad happen, but nothing really went my way either. Work was busy, people were annoying and asking ridic questions. I got delayed on the train and had people would would insist on squishing into the middle seat next me. ugh. I get home and the bf is pissing me off and my cat is being needy therefore pissing me off. I am just having a foul mood type of day.

I did get stuff in the mail. I got some Jill Stuart jelly eye colors and I was impressed. They don't look very promising in the jar~in fact they look kind of gross but they shimmer like nobody's business. I got the shiny onyx and green butterfly. Will post pics next time when I am in a less crank-tastic mood.

My order from Steph also came in today. I had ordered some more plumpy goodness. These were the two I put on right away: plumpy flowers in rose and fuchsia.

I love these colors. I got a mess of other pairs to share, but atlas I will have to make another promise of pics in the next post.

It's finally going to warm up in NYC, about 50 degrees tomorrow and above 60 on Friday. I can't wait. I've been dying to wear these shoes out.

I'm a short girl (5'2 on a good day), I heart my heels although they go against my need to speed down a sidewalk-yep I get pedestrian rage. I go to spurts of being willing to deal with heels and spurts of not wanting to deal with the fuss. When it gets warmer I feel like it's easier to switch between heels and flats so I usually break out the heels more often although I often try to carry a pair of flats to change into at the end of the day.

Enough of my rambling, I'm in a slightly better mood now. I hate being hormonal, I become so easily irritable. Next time~more make-up and jewelry!

Mitsuwa and TheFaceShop

I managed to convince the bf to take a drive to Mitsuwa and stock up on some japanese goodies. I had lunch before I went but by the time we got to the market, I was getting hungry which resulted in snack overload. I got some fruit gummies, seaweed and salt chips (so addicting), chocolate and some non-giant pocky. Here's is the gummy I'm currently snacking on:

It's pretty good, I like that it's not overly sweet. They also don't have a fully smooth gummy texture, there is a bit of grit (?) to them that I haven't decided if I like or not.

Hee, I found a heart shaped gummy.

We did get some real groceries too and I got some lip balm and new shampoo. I've been using the Shiseido Tsubaki for awhile and I decided to try the Lux shampoo to change it up.

After Mitsuwa, we went to TheFaceShop. Correction, I went to TheFaceShop while my bf stayed in the car and played with his PSP or as he calls it "saving the world". It was awkward because I was the only person in the store. I always hate the part where they speak to me in Korean and I look at them confused or just start speaking english to them. They left me alone which is nice and I wandered quickly through the store since it was after 7 and I was worried they were closing. Here's what I grabbed:

Hoping this eye cream will help with the undereye circles, although it would also help if I went to bed earlier. =P

Some polish and rhinestones. I would have picked up some more polish (not that I need it)
but I didn't think I had time.

I have a few sheet mask so I decided to try some blemish patches and pore strips.

Inspired by Steph's shisem haul, I picked up a few myself.
I slooowly getting better at applying these and wearing them.

Samples that they gave me, I heart samples. Can't wait to test out their BB cream.

So it was a productive trip to NJ today. Afterwards we went to Tar-jay. Nothing exciting there. I got cheez-its and for once, I did not purchase any make-up.

I also want to share the cutest pillow cases that I found yesterday:

I adore tokidoki. I have multiple bags, a mouse pad, pins and now pillow cases. I don't like all the characters but I do like Adios, Ciao Ciao and their cats Skeletrino and Skeletrina. I first got the figurines of both cats and when my bf decided we should have Adios and Ciao Ciao, I found out Adios is discontinued so finding him will be tricky. Oh well. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. It's already after 2am and I have to get up early tomorrow. sigh.

I spy with my little eye, something...

Hi y'all. I just wanted to do a quicky post since I'm sitting here with my clay mask from beauty credit on and I can't do much for the next 20 mins. I've been breaking out like crazy, normally it happens once a month but this time it seems to be quite stubborn so I'm trying this mask to clear out my impurities. Anyhoo, here are some random tidbits:

The Lady Dior Charm (pics in previous post) has been discounted even more at sephora.com. It is now $49! Ok, still a crazy price, yes I know but the blow is being soften a bit more. I've seen it marked down in one sephora store but not in another so I don't know how universal this mark down is. If you've been lusting over this trinket, now maybe the time to get it.

I had gotten the mini set of eco tools 5 piece brush set, but there is a full sized version offered that comes with a powder blush, eye shadow brush, eyeliner brush, a concealer brush and a lash/brow groomer with a make up roll for storage.

I spied this set with, instead of a make up roll, a bamboo square container cup. It's a simple design made from the same material it seems as the handles with "eco tools" etched on one side. In terms of prices, it was about $2 more than the set with the make up roll.

Maybelline has a new collection of more summery shiny-licious lip glosses all with golden shimmer to them. Colors range from clear to pink/corals to bronze-y shades. I haven't tried shiny-licious lip glosses since they first came out but I did pick up one of these glosses in a coral color. Maybe it was because it freakin snowed, yes SNOWED in New York today and I wanted something summery. The gloss was very pretty and had a watermelon jolly rancher smell to it.

There was also another fuller collection from Maybelline with new eye shadows, shine seduction lip colors and nail polish. One polish called Pot of Gold is clear with a mix of fine glitter and chunky glitter. Very pretty in the bottle-it will probably drive me crazy trying to get an even coat of glitter in practice. Normally I've never been happy with Maybelline polishes but I figure I would give this one a try since it was so pretty and there was a dollar off coupon available at the display.

Speaking of nails, I was bummed to find out that the site I used for Konad supplies is closing so I'll have to find another site-bah. A plus though was that they are offering discount on the remainder of their stock so I ordered some more plates and polishes and extra stamper but last I checked, there wasn't much left.

On a random food note-I decided to try giant Pocky and I think I do like it more than regular pocky at the moment. I usually just saw it and thought it was funny but I've been munching on it for the past week and I wonder if they have other giant flavors other than chocolate.

Another becoming a fatty note, there is a place that makes mini bite size cupcakes and they are delish:

No I couldn't wait, I usually eat 2 on the way home. What's left in the box is smores (my favorite), cookies n'cream, PB &J and peanut butter cup. I try not to be too piggy and instead of making it one bite, I try to make 2. The bf doesn't really eat sweets so finishing them up was left to me; very hard task I know.

Sephora Color Palette

I finally got a chance to sit down and go through the colors for Sephora Color Palette. For the eye shadows, I swatched with a brush since I ran out of sponge applicators and I did notice that some shadows were quite crumbly and did not go on very smooth. There were also inconsistencies in color payoff. The purples, blues and greys gave the best pay off while the green and browns seem to go on more sheer. The worst one was no. 30, even though it looks dark it would hardly show up.

The lip colors were all quite nice. All the colors were vibrant, went on smoothly and were not sticky.

All of the cheek colors have simmer except for the darkest blush. The bronzer is a bit dark but might be ok to use for contouring if lightly applied. The lightest blush is a nice shimmery pink color, the middle blush color is a slightly deeper pink color with shimmer and the darkest color is a very deep pink.

The palette is available on sephora.com for $22 usd. I have not seen it in stores yet.

Sephora haul, nail polish and Kino visit

In my Sephora haul earlier this month I ordered the Sephora Brand color palette and the Dior Lady Dior charm. I also redeemed 500 beauty insider points to get a niffy Korres kit and used a promo code to get a philosophy miracle worker kit.

The Sephora Brand play palette reminded me of the coastal scents palettes that have been showing up all over. I was tempted to get one but it was a bit too much palette for me. I liked the color play palette because it was not as big but still gave a bunch of eye shadows, lip colors along with blushes/bronzer. The eye shadows were ok, I have not played with all of them but some colors are definitely more pigmented than others. So far it seems like the blue/greens show up well while the browns were eh, which is ok for me since I primarily got it so I could have some brighter colors that I normally wouldn't buy alone.

I caved and finally ordered the Lady Dior Charm. At it's original release price of $90, it was really overpriced. Also when I first saw it, I thought the colors were too warm for me. So when I saw it online for $75 and in a more flattering color. I caved and ordered it. It's so freakin cute. Still over priced but not as horribly so.

The Korres kit comes with a shower gel, face cream, lip gloss in nude and a mascara. I've used a few Korres products before and overall have been pretty happy with this brand. I first used their body products -body butter, lotion and shower gels since they came in some great scents. My first make-up product from them was the cherry lip gloss and those come in great colors and leaves your lips very soft and moisturized. Their face products have been ok for me. I don't know if it was just a phase my skin was in but nothing seem to make it happy. I had tried the white tea cleanser and the rose night cream. They were both just ok for me. Anyway when I saw this kit offered, I was really happy to finally have something worthy of redeeming 500 insider points. I'm going on a cruise in May and I figure it would be a cute kit to have.

I had found a promo code for a philosophy 5 pcs. kit. I haven't actually use Philosophy products in quite some time. I've tried the purity cleanser and hope in a jar-both were ok stuff. I have sensitive skin and occasionally get eczema breakouts, both products didn't irritate my skin but it didn't help it that much either. I have not tried the microdelivery items so I'm excited to test them out since I like scrubs and have been itching to try some at home microdermabrasion type stuff.

So in my post about my DSK Jewelry, I was wearing one of Revlon's new scented nail polishes. The colors I had gotten were Not So Blue-berry and Sublime Strawberry (color in plumpy star pics and below). These polishes have a fruity scent when dried. Overall they go on easy and wear well. Not So Blue-berry is an interesting metallic blue lavender shade and Sublime Strawberry is a pretty pink with gold shimmer. When the polish is still wet it pretty much smells like regular polish with a hint of the fruity fragrance. However when dried, the smell comes out in full force. I wear a topcoat and the scent was still detectable although you can't really smell it unless you are thisclose to your nails and who spends time sniffing their nails? So it's kind of a weird nail polish feature. The scent did last all week and it got a bit fainter towards day 6-7, but it was still there. So if you would like scented finger tips, go check out this collection at your local drugstore.

On the topic of nail polish, I just found the new Essie North Fork collection at a local beauty supply shop. I bought all three since I ended up liking all of them. I really don't know where I'm going to store all my nail polish since it seems to be growing out of control and I still have to do my Zoya exchange.

Here's what I got from my last Kinokuniya visit:

Yay for Miffy and magazines! So far Voce is my favorite since it has some really great make-up diagrams. Since I have no clue what the words are-I'm all about the pictures. There were also super cute Miffy lunch boxes but I had to show some restraint and not get them since I am never able to bring my own lunch.

Plumpy Stars and more

I just got my first order from DSK Jewelry. Steph really makes some gorgeous jewelry and I was lucky enough to snatch up a few of her latest creation-plumpy star stud earrings. I've been in an earring rut and when I saw Steph's latest creation, I knew it was time to place my first order. She was super sweet in answering all my questions and soon enough I had finalized my order and was waiting anxiously for it to arrive.

It was a small box, but packed full of goodies.

I have to admit some candy is missing from this pic, I got my package in the afternoon and couldn't wait to have some sweets.

I ordered 4 pairs of star earrings since there were so many pretty colors available and I couldn't make up my mind. Here are some pics:

Top Row: Golden Shadow, Peridot
Bottom row: Clear, Silver Shadow

(I took these pics before seeing Steph's: great minds think alike haha)

I also ordered some Checkerboard earrings.

Top row: Aquamarine, Rose Pink
Bottom row: Crystal Clear (?)-sneaky Steph added this to my order

I couldn't wait to wear my new earrings so this was the set I was wearing today. Excuse the messy hair-I blame rainy NYC weather.

Here's a clear combo:

Thank you so much Steph. Everything is so sparkly and pretty. I hope I can continue my earring baller status. I'll have to order back ups since I know I'm going to wear these little stars and checks to death.
