Chanel Paris Shanghai Gold polishes

So this past week, I moseyed to a nearby Chanel boutique and I picked up the Illusion d'Or polish as well as the Gold Lame polish. I loved the pics I've seen of the Illusion d'Or so I knew that was a must have for me. I wasn't going to purchased the Gold Lame polish but I decided I wanted to compare it to the Facettes D'Or Gold Fiction polish that was released in 2008. Facettes was one of my first Chanel polishes and I was curious to see how similar the 2 polishes were.

I always loved the Facettes opaque bottle.

So the Gold Lame is a lighter shade of gold than Gold Fiction and I found it to be a bit streakier as well. Illusion d'Or is a pretty polish that adds a bit of sparkle when layered over other colors-along with the gold sparkles, there are shimmery violet pieces (which my camera did not pick up*sad face*). One of my fave combo right now is the new Chanel Nouvelle Vague polish with the Illusion d'Or. I haven't done a full manicure yet but will post pics soon.

Liberty of London x Mac event

I had hoped I would get this post up before the next Mac collections rolled out but sorry that didn't happen.

I got on line super early so I could be one of the first in and first out at the Liberty of London x Mac event. The Mac store is not that spacious so it gets crowded quick for these events.

The floor had a flowered print laid out.

In the back of the store, there was a guitarist and a model lounging. Behind them was a blow up of the promotional image for this collection.

This event actually had really good refreshments. There were mini jam sandwiches shaped like flowers, something that looked like fish and chips (but I didn't get a chance to try it) and other finger foods. The fruit drink I had was also pretty good.

As for goods, other than the scarf, I ended up with the Blue India polish and 2 lip glosses.

I was going to get the Pearl Shell face powder as well but the MA who rang me up gave me the wrong one and I did not notice till after I left the store. I called and I was told I couldn't exchange till Thursday (event was on a Tuesday) because that would be the official release day. I thought maybe they were bumping up the release date so waiting 2 days was annoying but no biggie. Then I find out my friend who had the same problem was told she could exchange the next day. wtf? I ended up waiting till Thursday anyway and I ended up calling before walking over just in case....I ended up being told I would have to wait till the following week for the official release before I could exchange, even though I had explained what had happened. The MA on the phone said "Well that's what my manager said and they handle the returns. I agree with you and if you threw a stink I'm sure they would do the exchange." Ok I should not have to throw a stink in order to do an exchange that was not my fault to begin with. In the end I return the wrong powder and got some items from the Too fabulous collection-2 lip liners.

I did wear the scarf out a few weeks ago and got lots of compliments on it =) The Mac logo is at the end of the scarf so it's not too noticeable but while shopping, I did try to not stand right next to the Mac counter. I don't normally wear scarfs but it was a good accessory since I was wearing all black.

Liberty of London x Mac Scarf

Hello! Gosh I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated! Here's a quick pic of the Liberty of London x Mac scarf I picked up at the release event last week. Next post will be pics from the event and the other items I picked up. In the end, I only got 2 lip glosses (Frankly Fresh and English Accent) and the Blue India polish.

So...the scarf-it's pricey at $95 (Although on the Liberty of London site, scarves can run close to $200 so this is a "bargain" for the line). I ended up liking the spring-y print more in person than in pictures and I much prefer the flower design over the bird motif. The material is a wool/viscose blend that is soft to touch and gives the scarf a light feel although is quite a big scarf at 27 x 82. I like that it does make me think of warmer temps to come and adds a dash of color to my wardrobe but I'm still on the fence on this investment.

Shiseido Perfect Rouge and Luminizing Satin Eye Color

I first tried out the Shiseido Perfect Rouge and Luminizing Satin Eye Color in the Fall but never got around to posting about it. For the Spring, 5 new eye colors were released along with new finishes for the Perfect Rouge line and a new line of lip glosses.

The Luminizing Satin Eye colors are really nice shadows. They go on smooth, have nice subtle shimmer, good pigmentation and lasting power. The first one I had purchased was VI399 (Amethyst), which is a Bloomingdale's exclusive.

Here are a few of the new Spring 2010 colors- 1st row: BL223 (Sky-cornflower blue), GR222(Fondant-seafoam green) 2nd row: PK319(Peach-light golden pink) and VI720(Ghost-grey violet)

The Perfect Rouge lipsticks are quite comfortable lipstick. They feel moisturizing and glide nicely. For Spring 2010, the glowing matte finish and tender sheer finish were released. Here are the lipsticks I currently own(l->r): RS320(Fuchsia), PK421 (Rose Quartz-light blue pink), PK307 (Tourmaline-medium pink) and PK 224(Sugar Babe-matte coral)

PK224 (Sugar Babe) is one of the glowing mattes. It's not as drying as other true matte lipsticks I've tried and does go on in a translucent suede kind of way.

The other new lip product released was the Luminizing Lip Gloss. It's a very light and non-sticky gloss. For me the texture was definitely very silky, almost too silky and verging on watery, but I got use to it. The gloss goes on very nicely and leaves lips feeling moisturized. I picked up PK303(Bellini) and PK406(Pop Life).

Paul & Joe Alice in Wonderland Set - Fantasy *Updated*

I picked up one of the Paul & Joe Alice in Wonderland Sets today. There are 2 versions available (Fantasy and Daydream) and at first I thought I would go for the blue one (Daydream) but after checking out the packaging in person I went with the pink one (Fantasy) afterall. I just ended up liking the images in that set more.

The set includes a lip treatment stick that goes on clear, a blotting paper holder with 100 sheets and a 100 sheet refill in a metal tin.

Although I'm not a big Alice in Wonderland fan, this was an adorable set. The set costs $48 at Bergdorf Goodman and is fair considering the regular blotting paper holder is already $24 and a refill costs $4. There were also a few non-AIW items released-5 new nail polishes and 5 creme to powder blushes.

Jill Stuart Spring 2010

I'm always drawn into the Jill Stuart make up collections in part because of the packaging but for Spring, I thought the colors were interesting as well. I ordered 2 of the new Jewel Crystal Eyes palettes; Crystal Ruby and Princess Sapphire and the Mix blush in Rose Fairy.

The Crystal Ruby palette has a pale gold, a golden pink, a medium ruby, and a dark burgundy. I did prefer this palette over the Princess Sapphire palette which contained a pale pink, a lilac, a deep pink and a dark violet because the pigmentation was a bit better and the shimmer a bit more subdue. The colors were also more unique than other Jill Stuart palettes that I can recall. The shadows were very smooth overall and I had no problems with fading or much fallout from the shimmer.

It's a very pretty pink blush and the colors don't contain any shimmer except for the top right pink shade but the shimmer is very fine. The powder is very smooth and you can easily build up or down the intensity.

Overall, a nice spring collection worth checking out if you like more girlie type of spring colors. =)

Kat Von D Memento Mori Palette

I just wanted to share pics of the Kat Von D Memento Mori palette I got in the mail today. I do like the Kat Von D palettes and often I wonder why I don't give them more love. The shadows come in great colors, have really good pigmentation and texture and the Memento Mori palette is no exception.

Unlike previous Kat Von D palettes, this one comes in a white base box with a colored design in a blue-green color. I guess this is to reflect the softer colors that this palette contains.

The design is a deeper blue green color and not so much bright aqua.

The box also opens differently than the previous palettes. The boxes before had front flap that lifted up but this palette has an accordion style box that opens from the bottom.

The case has the same design as the box and the same soft matte feel as previous palettes.

My favorite color is hard luck even though it's not the most spring-like. This is an interesting spring palette and definitely worth taking a look at especially if you like the other Kat Von D shadows. Will try to post some eotd's when I get the chance to play with the Memento Mori palette a bit more.
